| At the heart of our ethos is a belief in the benefits of performance for our students. Throughout the year, there will be dramatic, and music theatre performances to live audiences at a variety of venues across the North West. As well as generating lots of opportunity for drama performance, we are keen to explore and hone any talent for script writing and directing. There will be scope for these latter activities throughout the academic year. Enjoyment and the development of speaking, performance-space crafting and characterisation are tremendously important for our students. Our classes reflect this. However, we also want to stretch you, intellectually and artistically, during your time with us. The role of costume, make-up, mime, movement, speech register, and characterisation generally will be emphasised. | ![]() | ![]() | |
| Drama activities range from Christmas plays, pantomime, comic sketches,
serious and light dramatic interpretations of world events, and
improvisations on a theme; to the consideration of classic drama
(Ibsen, Shakespeare, Miller, for example). Drama classes will stretch
the imaginations of students. We want our students to communicate to their audiences some of the wonder of the British theatrical tradition. There will be a consideration of stage, videoography, and radio as dramatic performance media. | ![]() | | ![]() |
| A respect for and basic competence in the other theatrical arts of
music and dance is expected of all our drama specialists. Whilst we are
not expecting to make Billy Elliots or Christina Aguilleras of you, we
expect a mature approach to the movement and music work that supports
and enhances drama work with us. We will assist you with applications and auditions for higher education drama/ performing arts courses. | | | ![]() |
